Josiah Roetker is a freelance Cinematographer, Photographer, and Director based in Denver, Colorado. He’s been working in the video production industry for the past 10 years and couldn’t be happier doing it. His journey into the world of visual storytelling began during his high school years. “I started out making videos in high school with friends for fun. We’d get together and create short films and tell stories with a mini DV camera. We didn’t know what we were doing, but our little group of friends loved the aspects of collaborating and creating something together. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for telling stories. It was the spark that led me on the path to where I am today.”

Josiah’s passion for video production only grew stronger as he pursued formal education. He attended Columbia College in Chicago to study film and video. During his time there, he immersed himself in learning about the industry, gaining valuable insights and forging connections with other like-minded students. “While I only attended school there for a year, it gave me a peek into the industry and really sold me on the idea that I was on the right path. Meeting others who shared my passion for storytelling and creation was incredibly inspiring.”

In 2017, Josiah made a significant move from Indiana to Denver, Colorado, driven by a desire to explore new opportunities and expand his horizons. Upon arriving in Denver, he quickly began freelancing for several agencies and production companies, making a name for himself with his unique vision and dedication to his craft. “Denver has provided me with countless opportunities to grow and develop my skills. The vibrant creative community here is truly inspiring.”

Josiah is now working as a Cinematographer, Photographer, and Director not only in Denver but also across the country. He’s currently represented by Image Brew as a Director, having been added to their roster in the fall of 2019. His work primarily focuses on the fashion and lifestyle space, though his versatility allows him to excel in various genres. “From high key studio work to dark and dramatic looks, I love it all. To me, the most important thing is how to create the right look for a brand and how to push a story forward and connect with the audience.”

Josiah’s dedication to his craft is evident in every project he undertakes. “Taking the time to craft the look and feel of a project is paramount. And that’s why I work closely with creative agencies and production companies to execute the story of a brand and help bring it to life on the screen.” His collaborative approach and commitment to excellence have earned him a reputation as a reliable and innovative professional in the video production industry.
